The Saint Vincent de Paul Youth Group at Sacred Heart School is a program designed for primary school students who are interested in helping those who are less fortunate. SVDP students get together to help those in need within their school or local community. SVDP introduces children to the St Vincent de Paul Society and to living faith through action. The group is supported by two teachers, Ms. McCarthy and Mrs. Brenner. Parents assist when we need drivers and additional chaperones. The local St Vincent de Paul parish conference is also involved with our youth group at times.
SVDP is about doing good works in the community that benefit people facing difficult situations. It is also about young people meeting to talk, share ideas and concerns, and to have fun and support each other. The SVDP model of “See, Think, Do” is a great way to get young people thinking and talking about their spirituality and to connect their faith with issues affecting their community through volunteering, advocacy, and fundraising.
