Fall Book Fair 2023
November 6th - 10th
It's Book Fair time! Our space-themed Book Fair begins Monday, November 6th, and runs through Friday morning, November 10th. Stop by during school hours or after school (Monday-Thursday) until 4:00pm to find a book that takes you "Out of this World"! Or join us for Family Night on Tuesday, November 7th, until 8:00pm, for some crafts, snacks, and outer space fun!
Can't make it in person? Our online shopping is available from November 1st through November 14th at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/sacredheartschool15 - all proceeds benefit our school and classroom libraries.
Want to help? Contact Paula Asch at library@sacred-heart-school.org or check out the Sign-up Genius page at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0F4BAEA92DABF85-45403952-outofthis to volunteer.
For our Fall Book Fair, we are pleased to once again participate in Scholastic's All for Books program!
As always, one of our goals is to ensure as many children as possible receive and have access to books. One of the ways we can do that is through the All for Books program, which is run in conjunction with our Book Fair. With your help, the money collected goes to purchasing more books for our library and classrooms, and to put books into the hands of children who do not have any.
This Fall, books purchased with your All for Books donations will go to BookSmiles, a nonprofit organization that promotes literacy and the joy of reading by giving books to children throughout New Jersey and the Greater Philadelpha area - or as they put it, they "irrigate book deserts!". Visit booksmiles.org for more information on this great organization.
Ways to participate:
The class with the most participation will win a dress-down day or a pajama day and a space-themed movie and treats in the Library.
Thank you in advance for your donations. Your act of kindness helps bring more knowledge, imagination, and love for reading into the lives of our students and community.
Over 20 years ago, the National Education Association (NEA) decided to do something BIG to get kids excited about reading. They called it NEA's Read Across America. Launched and celebrated annually on Dr. Seuss's birthday, March 2, it was - and still is - the largest celebration of reading this country has ever seen.
On March 2nd, 2023, Dr. Seuss would have been 120! We celebrated with some themed dress-up days for the students and special readings of our favorite Dr. Seuss stories. Our featured stories in the Library this year were the tongue-twisting "Fox in Sox" and the classic "The Cat in the Hat." Several middle school classes did a dramatic reading of "The Lorax."
Thanks to your generous support of our Book Fairs, we were able to continue to subscribe to the Scholastic Go! package of online databases to our library research tools. The following databases are included in this online tool: The New Book of Knowledge, Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, Amazing Animals of the World, The New Book of Popular Science, America the Beautiful, and Lands and Peoples. Interactive Atlases and Dictionaries are also included.
