Sacred Heart School Goals |
|
In May, 2006, the faculty wrote the three-year progress
report required by the Middle States Association. It reflects the status
of the school at hat time. Fifty percent of the staff had changed in those
three years. The turnover of staff affected the course of the
project. The faculty feels that the goals included in this report will
better enable us to serve the needs of our present student population.
During the next three years we hope to address the following: 1. Hire a technology teacher . (done) 2. Purchase additional computers for the computer lab. (ongoing) 3. Establish a committee comprised of faculty, students, and administration for software selection. 4. Implement more writing across the curriculum. 5. Not limit technology to only computers. Include multiple new technological advancements. Look at alternatives to the computers themselves - i.e. palm pilots with keyboards and wireless connections. 6. Update, improve, and continually monitor school website.
The faculty was commended as follows: The collaborative efforts of the administration, faculty, and staff have resulted in a DOAS report that is well done. The Welcome and mission statements depict a Catholic elementary school that is committed to challenging students to seek knowledge, develop critical thinking and problem-solving strategies, and appreciate technology in their daily living. The school is highly commended for making accommodations for students with special needs, offering Spanish classes to all grade levels, and providing a wide range of activities for students to develop talents and interests. The faculty is highly commended for their dedication and commitment in pursuing ongoing professional development opportunities as they strive to integrate technology into the curriculum. The general recommendation was: "Continue with your excellent work." |
