| WHATS HAPPENIN
IN PRE-K 4?!/ JANUARY 2008 ANNOUNCEMENTS -
Our Christmas Play was a big success!! Many thanks
to all the parents who joined us for our special day!
Also, thank you to all the students and parents for their
generosity during the holiday season with their
time and gift-giving it has all been very much
appreciated! -
School will be closed on Monday, 1/21. There will
be a 12:30 am dismissal for all full day students on Wed.
1/16 and Friday 2/1. -
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK will be 1/28 to 2/1. Theme is
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS LIGHT THE WAY. More information to
follow. RELIGION -
To begin lessons GOD MADE LIGHT; GOD MADE THE LAND
and GOD MADE AIR. -
We will be discussing our prayers, Little Christmas, Dr
Martin Luther King, Jr and Catholic Schools Week. Our
Bible Stories will include Little Christmas and Jesus as
a Child. ILA -
Our letter people will be Mr Nn, Miss Oo and Mr Pp.
We will use hands-on activities, matching games, art
work, poems, puppets and stories to help your children
learn these letters. Classroom and bathroom
routines, rules and fire safety are reviewed often.
Have your child practice hearing and saying their whole
name and recognizing the letters in their name, randomly.
We will be matching letters and picking out the letter
that is different. We will continue with opposites
over/under. Young children learn best with
repetition it builds their confidence when they
know the answer LEARNING IS FUN! SCIENCE -
We will be working on the four seasons special
emphasis on Winter; the weather; the five senses and good
health habits. We will be discussing winter
animals, their environment and hibernation. Our
science projects will include experiments in objects
floating and sinking. SOCIAL STUDIES -
Projects will enhance our studies of Winter; the Bible
Stories; Little Christmas, Catholic Schools Week and Dr
Martin Luther King, Jr. WEEKLY READER -
Weekly Reader topics will be OPPOSITES; WINTER
FUN; GOOD FRIENDS CARE and SOME ANIMALS LIVE UNDERGROUND. MATH -
We will be learning numbers 6 and 7 counting
objects, sorting, adding, taking away, etc. We will
cover basic shapes (rectangle) and colors (white and
blue). Each day we do the calendar finding
out what month it is, what day of that month and what day
of the week it is. COMPUTER -
The children go to computers in small groups under the
direction and supervision of the pre-k staff. The
programs used reinforce the skills we are covering in
class. ART -
Our projects will reflect our studies of the letter
people, our numbers and shapes, Winter, Bible Studies,
the Saints, Little Christmas and Dr Martin Luther King,
Jr. Please practice using scissors with your child
we will begin our cut and glue book soon. Spanish is taught by Mrs. Taffee.
Music is taught by Mrs. Donald . Physical Education
is taught by Mr. Goehringer. Library
is taught by Mrs. Martin.
